2021-06-03 | CGS Admin
For those of you who are subscribers to the CGS announcement list, we want to direct your attention to a handful of new maps and recently digitized analog data sets that we haven’t otherwise publicized. These include several important online GIS maps and downloadable data packages:
ON-008-04D U.S. Forest Service Abandoned Mine Land Inventory Project – Colorado (Data) – v20200820 — The most current downloadable data set for this important inventory of environmental degradation associated with abandoned and inactive mines on National Forest System lands in Colorado compiled during the years 1991 through 1999.
ON-OF-78-08M Select geological logs associated with coal resources, Denver and Cheyenne Basins, Colorado — Funded by a U.S. Geological Survey National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP) grant, this extensive collection of digitized analog drilling logs is a valuable addition to Denver Basin stratigraphy. The GIS map allows download of the individual high-resolution digitized well logs that were integral to the original OF-78-08 publication.
ON-007-08D Historic Metal Mining Districts of Colorado (Data) – v20201112 — This data package includes linked county-wide reports and shapefiles of historic metal-mining districts.
ON-007-08M Historic Metal Mining Districts of Colorado (Map) – v20201112 — An online GIS map displaying the contents of the data package.
ON-B-40D Radioactive Mineral Occurrences of Colorado and Bibliography (Data) — This data package contains a partial compilation of around 3000 known radioactive occurrences from the original B-40 report published in 1978, along with their locations and brief accounts of the geology, mineralogy, radioactivity, host rock, production data, and source of data for each.
ON-B-40M Radioactive Mineral Occurrences of Colorado and Bibliography (Map) — An online GIS map displaying the contents of the data package.
