OF-14-07 Geologic Map of the Watkins SE Quadrangle, Arapahoe and Elbert Counties, Colorado

$0.00

The purpose of this map is to describe the geology, mineral and ground-water resource potential, and geologic hazards of this 7.5-minute quadrangle located southeast of Denver. Higher elevations in this quadrangle are covered by Quaternary eolian sand deposits. The bottoms of the tributaries contain modern alluvium. Erosion in the tributary creeks has exposed two bedrock formations of the Denver Basin, ranging in age from Eocene to Upper Cretaceous. The youngest bedrock formation is the Paleocene to Eocene Dawson Arkose. The older formation is the Upper Cretaceous to Paleocene Denver Formation. CGS staff geologist Matthew L. Morgan completed the field work on this project during the summer and fall of 2013. 2 plates: map, 3-D oblique view, and cross section. Also included are GIS data. Digital ZIP download. OF-14-07D
