South Platte River

The South Platte River runs 439 miles (707 kilometers) through northeastern Colorado, beginning in Park County, Colorado and ending in Lincoln County, Nebraska. Chatfield Reservoir, formed by impounding the South Platte River, serves as a primary water source for the Denver Metropolitan area. The South Platte feeds into the Antero, Spinney Mountain, Eleven Mile, and Cheesman reservoirs.
