The disposal of radioactive waste is a focus of public interest. Prudent public policy concerning disposal of radioactive waste requires a good understanding of the scientific, technical, and social issues involved. The purpose of this booklet is to provide policy-makers, legislators, and the general public with information to better understand the issues, particularly the important geological considerations. This introductory booklet was developed by the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG).
