From the report:

The estimated total value of 1998 mineral and mineral fuel production in Colorado is $2,769 million dollars. Mineral fuels yielded $1,714 million in 1998, a 15 percent decrease from the 1997 value of $2,026 million. Lower oil and natural gas prices and decreased oil production are the primary reasons for the decline in value. The value of Colorado coal production is estimated at $444 million.

Estimated 1998 non-fuel mineral production — including metals, industrial minerals, and construction materials – is valued at $604 million by the USGS Mineral Information Center. This figure is an increase of 15 percent from the 1997 value of $524 million. The increased value is largely due to increased construction materials, sand and gravel, and crushed stone production.
