No Geologist worth anything is permanently bound to a desk or laboratory, but the charming notion that true science can only be based on unbiased observation of nature in the raw is mythology. Any other ideas as to where/how creative geologic ideas arrive? Any personal mythologies or methodologies out there? Any brilliant strokes of insight as to understanding the complexities of a particular geologic regime?
