How does it form?

Wind is kinetic energy. When the large blades (propellars) are oriented correctly to the wind, the blades turn.Although theblades often appear as though they are turning slowly, the blade tips can approach speeds of 250 miles per hour. These blades then turn the magnets inside the generator to create electrical current. In order to have efficient magnets, we use the rare earth element neodimium in the manufacture of the magnets. Each 3 MW wind turbine uses about 1,000 pounds of neodimium. We don’t produce a single pound of neodimium in this country and have to import all of it.
