Colorado History Museum
A large, comprehensive mining exhibit provides an overview of Colorado’s mining history through intricate dioramas and includes many pieces of equipment used in exploration, vein, placer and coal mining, assaying, mine blasting, ventilation and dewatering, mucking and loading, including an operable rotary dumper. There is a large exhibit depicting the life of H.A.W. Tabor, “Colorado’s first and greatest Silver King.” The museum has a library of books, maps, newspaper clippings, manuscripts, journals and photographs that document the historical evolution of mining activities in Colorado.
