Garden Park Fossil Area dinosaur

The Garden Park Fossil Area has been an important site for late Jurassic vertebrate paleontology since the 1870’s. At least six new dinosaur genera have been discovered here, along with the only skull of Brachiosaurus from the Morrison Formation, three Stegosaurus stenops skeletons, and a clutch of dinosaur eggs.

The Garden Park Fossil Area has produced some of best dinosaur fossils found anywhere. Among these are three articulated skeletons of Stegosaurus stenops – the Colorado State Fossil! The fossil tree is the first found in Jurassic rocks east of the Continental Divide.
