**As of April 2017, the Carbonate Mine does not offer tours and or accommodations.**
The Carbonate Mine was first opened in the summer of 1896 and remained in production until the late 1950s. The principal ores were limonite, a gold-bearing, mustard-colored ore; and galena, a purplish ore containing gold and silver. Some of the passageways are encrusted with astounding ice crystals. With a constant temperature of 28°F, warm, water-resistant clothing is a must!
